Clemson Professor Of Disinformation Blames Social Media Influencers For Unvaccinated Pandemic
A report from the Center for Countering Digital Hate has identified twelve social media influencers for disseminating anti-COVID vaccine disinformation. Dr. Darren Linvill, a professor of disinformation at Clemson, says the twelve are responsible to a degree for the consequences when some unvaccinated get sick or die from the virus.
“Some percentage of those people are dying because they didn’t get the vaccine. And a lot of people aren’t getting vaccinated because of information they picked up on social media,” Linvill said.
The report found the so-called “Disinformation Dozen” is responsible for 73% of anti-vaccine content on Facebook.
