Furman University Hall Of Famer Bringing Clean Water To Millions Of African Villagers

World Golf Hall of Famer Betsy King, a 1977 Furman University alumna, has built a remarkable reputation both on and off the golf course. In 2007, the two-time U.S. Women’s Open champion founded Golf Fore Africa, a foundation that has raised over $16 million and has helped fund a medical clinic in Rwanda, homes in Lesotho, supplies for schoolchildren, and, through a partnership with World Vision, clean water systems for Zambian villagers living in extreme poverty. Her latest goal is to raise $5 million over the next three years to bring clean water to 1.2 million villagers. Read more about her impact in the summer issue of Golf Journal.
