The Day UNC Greensboro Prof Got An Email From Disney For Help
Once upon a time, UNC Greensboro Professor of Ethnomusicology Gavin Douglas’s resume and research caught the attention of a big name in Hollywood. “Out of the blue, I got this email from Disney, asking if I would be interested in acting as a music consultant for their next film, Raya and the Last Dragon,” said Douglas. “I guess it was my book – I imagine I got tapped because I’d done work over a span of several years and many countries in the region. Raya and the Last Dragon takes place in this magical, mythical Southeast Asian inspired place. It’s a corner of the world that Disney hadn’t yet explored.”
